Rules of origin

How goods qualify

Product-specific rules; for most garments a yarn-forward rule: yarn and fabric must come from CPTPP members.

Proof of originForm CPTPP or self-certification

Product groups that gain most

  • Furniture and wood products
  • Footwear
  • Seafood
  • Electronics and machinery

Sourcing tip

CPTPP is the best route into Canada and Mexico. For garments, the yarn-forward rule rules out Chinese fabric; source fabric in Vietnam or another member, or use the short-supply list.

Status as of October 2026, based on the WTO Center of VCCI and official partner announcements. Tariff commitments and origin rules vary by product: check the legal text or ask us before you rely on a preferential rate.
